The holiday of giving thanks is upon us and the years have gifted boomers with a certain perspective on gratitude…
No longer are we as concerned with the material things in life as we may have been in years past. Rather than fretting over our stuffing recipe or whether or not our pies are up to snuff, our thoughts can now turn to giving thanks for the family and friends who have brought warmth and meaning into our lives.
Regardless if those friends are near or far, old or new, the bond of female friendship takes on an ever-greater significance as the years roll by. In truth, these friendships may well take center stage and become the mainstay of our lives.
And, believe it or not, the Internet can play a surprisingly significant role in creating such bonds. In fact, I have made a number of new and growing friendships by way of cyberspace. Women I would never otherwise have met are now joining my personal circle. Who knew the web could be so welcoming?
Some of the most accomplished, active and exciting women I can now add to my friendship list are ladies you are likely to already know. They are perhaps most recognizable by their online moniker: The Three Tomatoes. Although the numbers of active tomatoes has now far exceeded three, their motto remains the same: they are the go-to, “insider’s guide for women who aren’t kids.”
I have been lucky enough to connect with many of these ladies and find them to be inspiring, energetic and true role models for our generation. Even more, I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to be interviewed for their lively and informative Happy Hour Podcast series. They called our particular broadcast (#43), “Celebrating Feisty Women.” And Kim Selby, the feisty San Francisco tomato who interviewed me, was the epitome of charm, enthusiasm and professionalism. She was one awesome host!
I had a blast and I think you will, too. Please give their podcast a listen (the conversation is lively and will surely make you smile). And, while you’re at it, be certain to check out all the many exciting offerings you will find on the Three Tomatoes’ website.
As you contemplate another start to the holiday season, take a little time to recognize all the gifts you and your female friends have shared over the years. Gratitude can take on a whole new meaning when you share it with your girlfriends!
