It is nothing less than mind-blowing on a monumental scale! Millions upon millions of former hippie chicks are donning the mantel of the wise woman and dispensing the type of sage advice that’s only gleaned by having lived numerous decades on the planet.
It may be shocking how the years have passed but, true to our boomer souls, our flower power hasn’t wilted one bit. In truth, we’re more revolutionary than ever. Fueled by a large dose of hormonal chutzpah (thank you, menopause) and gifted with life perspective, we’re poised and ready to continue our generation’s penchant for creating far-reaching social change. And, with our wise woman status, we’ve more than earned the right to speak our truth with conviction… so let’s go, girls!
The major difference between aging well and simply growing old is how connected and valued you feel. Now is the time to identify and ownyour true gifts as a unique individual and then use them in ways that will provide value to others. Erik Erikson, the world-renowned development psychologist, identified and described the eight stages of life development. Most boomers find ourselves in the stage marked by either generativity or stagnation—the choice is yours.
Therefore, as wise women who want to leave the world a better place, let’s consider the following:
- Age is liberating! You no longer need to prove yourself or conform to what others wish you to be. You have earned the right to be your SELF.
- You can say: NO. This simple two-letter word opens up a world of possibilities, giving you the time and the focus to pursue what’s truly important to you.
- If not now, when? If age teaches us one thing, it’s that our time here is limited to a precious few years—so we need to make the most of them.
Life is an adventure full of rich opportunities… if you choose it to be. We are now the wise women of the land and, bolstered by both our boomer numbers and our bodacious spirit, we’re more than ready to take off. So let’s amp up our mature and magnificent flower power, get our feisty on, and keep on changin’ the world!
