If you’re an early boomer, chances are you have at least some distant memories of 1955. And, for those of you born in the late 1940s, you probably can recall many of the scenes and recollections highlighted in this remarkable video montage of the good old days.
Whether your memories are dim and distant or clear as a bell, I invite you to spend a few minutes taking a visual stroll down memory lane. This video holds no punches as, along with the requisite shots of hula hoops and car hops, there are a number of scenes of blatant segregation and racial injustice. But, despite the more cringe-worthy and downright cruel aspects of the time, you are sure to find scenes that will make your eyes mist with fond memories.
So take a few minutes to relive the years before we donned our love beads and mounted our first protest march. The swinging sixties may have been the decade we claim as our own, but the fifties are filled with plenty of memories, too.
