Okay… I admit I was wrong!
In my post, “7 Reasons I’m Glad I’m Not Young,” I snarkily pointed out my belief that we boomers have matured beyond outwardly flaunting the visible signs of youthful folly.
Not that we’re old and sedentary. Far from it. We continue to pump iron (albeit hoisting somewhat lighter weights than our younger counterparts), hit the gym or yoga mat, and power walk for miles. I just meant that our bad habits and indiscretions are not flaunted with the abandon of the under thirty set.
Boy was I living in the land of denial. Maybe this is a good thing. Perhaps those wild and feisty boomers pictured on the left are living, breathing examples of our undying spirit. Our generation has always proudly claimed our rebellious spirit…now some of us are displaying that spirit in ways that are colorful to say the least.
Charlotte Guttenberg (age 67) and her life partner, Charles Helmke (age 75) have earned the coveted crown as the most tattooed couple in the 2017 Edition of the Guinness World Records. You can read all about their story and view their personal account of this amazing achievement here.
And, for those of you boomers who may be screwing up your courage to wrest the title away from these hardy winners, I wish you good luck. I also wish you a wardrobe filled with muted colors. Attiring yourself in anything in bright hues and bold patterns would certainly clash.
After all, you wouldn’t want anything to detract from making a good first impression!
