Women Over 50: Meet Your Living Inspiration!
There can be no doubt that boomers have already revolutionized the spirit and style of aging. Just like we’ve done with every other aspect of the culture, we’re smashing old stereotypes to smithereens and blasting into older age with our trademark chutzpah and panache. And, just like Suzanne Braun Levine entitled her latest book: 50 Is the New Fifty, we’re making Second Adulthood a time to celebrate. You won’t find any shrinking violets here—our flower power is stronger than ever!
But there’s a fresh (um, actually mature) role model on the scene and she’s showing us an even greater lesson: 80 is now the new eighty. Maybe it’s her dimples or perhaps it’s the ever-present twinkle in her eye, but Betty White has become the pin-up girl for the Wrinkled Revolution. And, speaking of fresh, this gal has got some mouth on her! Did you catch her Saturday Night Live appearance?
Although her life has not always been easy (she lost her beloved husband, Alan Ludden, back in 1981 and
never remarried), Betty White is showing us the art of aging without losing the spark and sparkle of youth. Her mind remains cuttingly clever and she’s not afraid of delivering a bawdy retort when interviewers give her any opening to inject that famous sense of humor. This lady is still taking risks, still making waves, and still enjoying life to the fullest. In fact, in just a couple of years, Betty will be showing us how to be a cheeky old broad at ninety!
So here’s to the woman who’s provided us countless laughs and many great moments for more than half a century: may her star continue to shine as she shows us the way to the Feisty Side of 100. If anyone can make her centenarian years sexy and fun, it’s gotta be Betty!

Beautiful and still sharp as a tack! I saw Betty White on a GMA interview earlier this summer. When the interviewer asked, Betty, with a wonderful 60-year career behind you, is there anything you’d still like to do?
Without missing a beat, her deadpan response was, “Robert Redford.”
I almost fell out of my chair, laughing. You could hear everyone on the set cracking up, too. And Ms. White just sat there with her prim and proper smile, not a hair out of place. Class act, all the way!

Well ladies you have not met my mom , Bea, who at 92 is channeling Coco Chanel. I agree Betty White is “all that” and I love her. But I have to admit that Bea is pretty freaking amazing. No grass of sale an Neimans, Saks, Bloomies, or Nordstroms grows under her feet….nor a bi-weekly trip to the beauty shop so she looks chic every time she goes down for the mail. She is up on current events as well. Mom is the true poster child for aging like a babe from Bergdorfs with a brain.

I just saw Betty in her summer series on TV Land called Hot In Cleveland–and she is a riot! One thing I have noticed is her character range. She played a not-too-bright blonde in the Goldren Gilrs and now she’s a Feisty Grand Diva on the new show. We should all want to have what she eats for breakfast every day

Oh, yes. I have been a fan for as long as I can remember. Her stint on SNL was hilarious. But, I really loved her character in Bringin’ Down The House with Steve Martin and Queen Latifa. Boy was she BAD! You have to admire someone with that much spunk and ability to provide that level of performance at her age. That must be the secret to growing old well… the ability to laugh, both with people and at yourself.

I love Betty White. You are right, she is the poster child for aging gracefully. (As opposed to all the Hollywood types who are filled with plastic and dreams of their lost youth.)
