Unemployed and Frustrated? The Definitive Guide for Baby Boomers Looking for Work
If you’re a baby boomer and out of work, you’ve probably been feeling down and discouraged by the news. It seems that everywhere we turn, the job market is described with words such as “bleak,” “slow to recover,” and “with limited prospects.” This, we’re told, is especially true for the older applicant.
However, I’m here to tell you this isn’t necessarily the case and and there are strategies and techniques you can use that will move your search forward and set you apart as THE candidate of choice! I do have the experience to back up my claim. Aside from writing the “Feisty Side of Fifty,” I hold a Master’s Degree in Career Development and am a Nationally Board Certified Career Counselor. In fact, I have twenty years of experience as a job search specialist and have worked with thousands of midlife jobseekers. The vast majority of them have gone on to find rewarding work in positions they love.
With the state of the current economy, I felt it was time to share my expertise and get the word out to my fellow boomers. So I’m happy to announce that my first book, Land the Job You Love! 10 Surefire Strategies for Jobseekers Over 50, is now available on Amazon. It’s packed with insider tips that are guaranteed to save you time, money, and loads of frustration. In it, you will learn:
- The proven formula to best articulate your skill sets and back them up with winning examples of you performing your work at its best.
- The most effective method to use personal contacts to network your way into targeted organizations where you’ll make key alliances in your search.
- The very best resume format for older applicants and how to highlight critical skills and accomplishments so that they literally leap off the page.
- How to prepare for and ace the interview: the all important first impression, building rapport and knowing how to answer questions to peak the interviewer’s interest, handling event-specific, behavioral style questions, and getting the job offer.
- The strategies to negotiate a win/win deal.
Here’s what readers had to say about Land the Job You Love:
“Finally, an all-encompassing workbook on how to find a job. This is the best book I’ve seen on the topic!” Judith M., Senior Human Resources Consultant
“Invaluable job guide for baby boomers!” Peggy K.

Woohoooo! Congrats Eileen. Your book sounds like a lifesaver. I know 3 people who were “downsized” in the past month or so, one of them is my sister. She’s only in her late 40’s but feels part of her being let go–as she’s never had a bad mark in 9 years–is to hire someone younger and for less money as they look to cut, cut, cut.
WIth your expertise this book will certainly be invaluable to the 50-something job seeker. It’s scary out there and if I wasn’t so happy as en entrepreneur, I’d check out your wisdom before I did anything else.

Eileen, I am thrilled for the publication of your book and to have it as a resource where I can refer my baby boomer friends. Thank you for sharing your years of expertise and knowledge of this specialized job market! I believe The Feisty Side of Fifty has helped you keep a pulse on what boomers want and need. There’s no one quite as well positioned as you are to offer a host of practical “do what you love” tips to the Reluctant to Retire generation!
