Baby Boomer Women–A Website Just For You!

Looking for a website that’s fun, quirky, touching, and immensely entertaining all at the same time? Well look no further! Debbie Zipp is an actress best known for playing Donna on Murder She Wrote. Now she’s on a mission to change the ageism and sexism Hollywood is so famous for practicing—especially against women. Along with her friends, Debbie has created an entertainment website aimed just for us. In the Trenches Productions is the first entertainment network on the web with films for women over 40. As Debbie puts it: “If we don’t tell our stories who will?”

The short films you’ll find there will grab you in ways no others can, because they’re reflections of the fun and foibles of growing older. You’ll see your own face looking back at you: a few lines, a few grey hairs, and a sense of confidence and zest for life you can only achieve at midlife. Some of the films are serious, but most are old broad bawdiness at its best. (Menopause must beef up the funny bone because we gals are letting it all hang out like never before!)

It’s hard to pick my favorites but I must make special mention of “Debbie’s Hair,” “Living Large on Less” and “Girl Tox.” They each had me laughing so hard I needed to run to the cupboard for a fresh pair of Depends! “Believe it Baby!” had tears of joy, recognition, and laughter running down my cheeks simultaneously. Check them out for yourselves and you’ll see what I mean.

In true female fashion, Debbie and her friends are adding even more to the site: they’re making it a welcoming showcase for others. In the “Films By You!” section, you’ll find more classic gems that share tips, stories, or just plain fun.

I had a blast interviewing Debbie on Feisty Side of Fifty Radio. She shared her epiphany at five years old, her early acting experiences, and her reasons behind creating In the Trenches Productions. So take a listen to a woman with warmth, humor, courage, and drive. Debbie and her friends are taking on the big boys in Hollywood and I’m betting my money on them!

What a terrific review Eileen! I’ve seen a few of Debbie’s videos, and love her down-to-earth humour.
I haven’t been over at the ‘trenches’ of late, but this has reminded me of all I’ve been missing, see you there :)

I wonder if it’s more funny because we’ve been there too?

As always, Eileen, you’re on top of things. Thanks for pointing us to an excellent site with great references. Pam, I agree.. we 40+ women have to join forces!!

Debbie is, indeed, a class act and it is an honor to be associated with her. In the Trenches Productions raises the bar for what women at midlife should be about.

Thanks so much for pointing me to this website! As someone who is writing a book about women in midlife, I applaud women like Debbie who are redefining what it means to get older and are paving a new path for younger women to travel. You might also enjoy the website 50ToDeath. It’s a comedic web series about 3 friends (Norm Golden, Joan Barber, and Jon Freda) who are over the age of 50 and doing their best to cope with the 21st century. http://www.50todeath.com.

    Eileen,

I enjoy the gals over at ITTP, too. Debbie Zipp is warm, friendly, and funny.

I wish them continued success in their fight against the Hollywood standard. After all, we 40+ have to join forces and shake things up. Gee…40 is so young!

I love Debbie and ITT Productions. I’m honored to contribute to ITT’s blog, Women Over 40 Rock! The first film I saw on the ITT site two years ago involved interviews of women on their various reactions to aging, all honest, inspiring–and many were also”pass Depends” funny. What a treat! I was hooked then, there, and forever!

Running to the bathroom for more Depends, lol, maybe you should make one of those films!
