Women Over Fifty—Feisty Wins a Prize!
I’ve already confessed to my previously unshakable belief that using a computer keyboard to type your way to friendship wasn’t even remotely possible. Boy, was I wrong!
My favorite aunt passed away earlier this year and I’m reminded that she met her husband because a friend suggested she start writing a lonely serviceman oversees during World War II. At first the letters were general in nature and chatty, every day accounts of what was going on at home. However, slowly, as the months wore on, the tenor of the letters deepened and they began to share their innermost thoughts. When he returned home, they decided to meet and the sparks were soon flying. Because the relationship was already established through their correspondence, romance quickly followed their face-to-face encounter.
Although I’m yet to actually meet only one of my cyber buddies, I’ve spoken with many of them over the phone and have interviewed a number on Feisty Side of Fifty Radio. And, similar to my aunt and uncle, a closeness developed quickly because we already knew a lot about one another.
One such friend, Beverly Mahone, at Baby Boomer Bev, just nominated Feisty to receive a Kreative Blogger Award! Of course, I’m honored and will pass it along myself.
Here are the guidelines:
- Thank the person who gave you the award
- Place the logo on your blog
- Link to the person who nominated you
- Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting
- Nominate 7 bloggers for this award and post links to their blogs
- Send a message to let them know they’ve been nominated
Seven Things About Me You May Find Interesting:
- I was a high school Foreign Exchange Student to Vienna, Austria.
- Like so many others, my favorite Beatle was Paul.
- I studied Croatian in college.
- When I was younger, I could stick my foot in my mouth while standing up and not have to bend over to do it. (A rare sight indeed!)
- I LOVE frozen peas.
- I got my first pair of glasses in kindergarten—a saucy red and white checked pair that did a lot to raise my social status, believe me!
- Feisty will be two years old at the end of this month.
There are so many blogs I enjoy I wish I could list them all. So I’m finding this part difficult, but here goes in alphabetical order:
Dear Literary Ladies: Nava Atlas’s newest site. This multi-talented author, artist, blogger, and more, provides motivation and muses for women who write.
Hot Flashbacks Cool Insights: Joyce Mason runs both “hot and cool” and always gets me to thinking. I’ll be interviewing her on July 20th so get ready to find out about your dreams—maybe you can make them come true!
Live Peace and Passion: Karlyn Camenga reminds us what’s truly important to the planet, to our communities, to our loved ones, and to ourselves.
Midlife With a Vengeance: Gregory Anne Cox is always up on the latest news regarding health and wellbeing—a true treasure trove of information.
Pop Art Diva: A delightful mixture of pop art, nostalgia, recipes, and more—a real feast for all the senses. She’s running a “Think Pink” campaign this month and you’ll want to check out her delightfully clever and very pink products!
Suzanne Braun Levine: The founding editor of Ms. Magazine and author of several books for women over fifty provides insights, life lessons, and more.
WOOF: Women Only Over Fifty: Diana Black, Mary Cunningham, and Melinda Bailey-Lyons, write a great blog that alternates between being informative and howlingly funny!

Because of you, I discovered the WOOF blog—which I absolutely love! I think great bloggers tend to follow each other and it becomes one great big bloggersphere. I was happy to nominate you among the many had to choose from.
To me, a great blog must be relatively short with “meat”. That’s why yours are always delicious!
