Women Over Fifty—Are You Living With a Vengeance?
For hundreds of years older women have been shuffled off to the sidelines of life, their options reduced to becoming either doting grandmas or doddering dowagers. Thank goodness that limited and lackluster destiny ended a dozen or so years ago when the first of our age group turned fifty.
Women of our generation weren’t about to take any of that old garbage and lived up to our reputation of loudly and forcefully carving out a totally new role for the female of the species—whatever her age. In fact, this latest revolution was the boomers’ BOOM heard ‘round the world! Now, women past fifty are the hottest thing on the planet (yes, marketing and the media are finally taking notice) and we’re growing ever more powerful as our numbers increase each year.
But to make the most of this amazing time in our lives, we’ve got to make wise choices about our health, mental outlook, and general wellbeing. To these ends, I’d like to share with you a super site that’s dedicated to keeping us “fit, healthy, sassy and sane.” Midlife With a Vengeance” says it all. The name refers to the energetic orneriness we old gals can achieve when we’re feeling our best.
Take some time to peruse the many articles and check out the latest tips on supplements, exercise, diet and more. You can sign up for a weekly mind and body tune-up and have a 3-minute audio delivered to your email for free. Also, take a few minutes to give Gregory Anne, writer, chef, coach, and wellbeing specialist, your thoughts on your own midlife story by answering her brief survey.
A final thought from one ornery old gal, me: Each of us has paid her dues and we’re entitled to living our very own midlife with a special brand of vengeance. So let’s get fit, get healthy, get feisty, and grab the gusto by living our lives to the fullest.
Remember—nothing can stop a woman of maturity who’s feeling her zest and knows she’s ripe and ready to take on the world!

Eileen,
By definition vengeance means “the act of taking revenge (harming someone in retaliation for something harmful that they have done)especially in the next life;
With that being the case I hope I’m not living my life with a vengeance because that can lead to high blood pressure and a multitude of other problems. But I am living my life with a whole lot of “sass” these days

I try to live my life with all the energy and spirit I can, but I never considered it to be living with a vengeance. Love that concept! Will definitely be taking your recommendation and looking at this new resource. Anything that can help me live better, fuller, healthier days is welcome!

I am so hoping that my feistiness never leaves me! I can’t imagine life without a lot of zest. As you know, I renewed my membership at Curves and will be swinging from the ropes like an orangutan soon–building up those biceps!

Eileen, I’m living with a vengence, sometimes at the risk of my own health. I am proud to be a part of the Boomer women, who don’t sit down and let life pass them by. As always, your post is timely and relevant. Thanks for sharing the new link.

Hi there feisty friend, it’s always interesting reading your posts. The thought of living Midlife with a vengeance sounds interesting and challenging…energizing…I may need that to shake me out of my calm complacency I find myself in. Very inspiring.

Part of my zest is learning new things. So, I am forcing myself to go beyond my fears and using positive self-talk and prayer to keep me above periods of frustration or despair. I feel that we are committed, as boomer women, to pass on our energy to help and support others as advocates and empowerment coaches.
So thank you for the reminders and cheers to keep on “keepin on”

So true, Eileen! After letting more pounds than I care to think about accumulate during the winter, I feel so much better both mentally and physically as I’m shedding a little extra weight. We do need to take care of ourselves and not give in to age! One of my favorite examples is Candace Bergen. Anyone remember The Sand Pebble? (I think that’s the name of the movie?) She was about 20, or looked it, and was one of the most gorgeous young women on the planet. Over 60, she’s still going strong and is still gorgeous! Every time I see her I feel inspired. Thanks for a great post.

I just love the name Midlife With A Vengeance! For the past 9 months I feel that has been my attitude after passively dealing for too long with the world’s non-reaction to my attempts to re-enter the workplace. I realized we need to take matters into our own hands with a vengeance and get it going! Learn new things, get healthy, form support network of friends who really get it…. Thanks for all your inspiration, Feisty!
